United Community (United) is seeking an Internal Communications Specialist to join our Marketing & Communications (MarCom) team. This role is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering clear, timely, and engaging internal communications that support business priorities, employee engagement, and organizational alignment.

Operating much like an Air Traffic Controller, this role manages multiple communications initiatives simultaneously—prioritizing requests, coordinating timelines, anticipating dependencies, and ensuring information flows smoothly across the organization. The Specialist partners closely with leaders and subject matter experts to translate complex or technical information into employee‑focused messaging delivered through email, Microsoft Teams, United’s internal communications platform (UConnect), and other internal channels.

This position plays a key role in reinforcing United’s culture, values, and strategic initiatives by ensuring employees are informed, connected, and aligned. The MarCom team is nimble, collaborative, and passionate about delivering communications that drive clarity, consistency, and connection across United’s markets and teams.

    • Translate complex or technical information into accessible messaging for broad internal audiences
    • Ensure messaging is consistent, timely, and aligned with United’s brand and values
    • Manage the front and back-end content of United’s internal communication platform, Uconnect, ensuring content is current, relevant, and easy to navigate
    • Review and edit content submitted by departments prior to publishing
    • Publish error-free, reader-friendly content in a timely manner
    • Manage the lifecycle of intranet content, including updates, archiving, and removal of outdated information
  • Content Development & Planning:
    • Write, edit, and proof internal communications including announcements, intranet articles, leadership messages, newsletters, and talking points
    • Maintain and manage an internal communications calendar to ensure effective planning and coordination
    • Proactively communicate timelines, dependencies, and next steps with stakeholders
    • Collaborate with internal partners and subject matter experts to source, refine, and validate content
  • Project Management & Collaboration:
    • Own internal communications projects from concept through execution
    • Coordinate with marketing, HR, operations, and leadership teams to support enterprise-wide initiatives
    • Support the marketing and communications request process using project management tools, including intake, prioritization, and deadline management
  • Employee Engagement & Culture Support;
    • Support internal events, campaigns, and initiatives that promote engagement, connection, and teamwork
    • Assist with department-wide coordination efforts such as volunteer initiatives, internal campaigns, and team-building activities
    • Provide communications support for internal meetings, leadership updates, and change initiatives
  • Vendor & Partner Coordination:
    • Coordinate with external vendors as needed to support internal communications tools, platforms, or initiatives
