Overview

United Community is seeking a highly experienced Senior Builder Finance Portfolio Manager to support and lead portfolio management, underwriting, and credit oversight for the Builder Finance division. This role delivers financial, industry, and economic analysis to facilitate informed decision‑making while ensuring compliance with credit policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management standards. The Senior Builder Finance Portfolio Manager plays a critical role in maintaining credit quality, strengthening underwriting consistency, and supporting the growth of the Builder Finance portfolio across the holding company.

This is a high‑impact leadership role with the opportunity to shape specialized lending practices, streamline portfolio management processes, and build a high‑performing underwriting and portfolio management team.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze client operating performance and financial condition; proactively identify issues, opportunities, and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies
  • Monitor and manage overall credit quality and data integrity for the Builder Finance portfolio
  • Perform sponsorship reviews and project monitoring by analyzing client, guarantor, and market information
  • Determine financial and project compliance and document analysis summaries within appropriate management systems
  • Deliver financial, industry, and economic analyses to support sound credit decisionmaking
  • Contribute to due diligence efforts and preparation of credit approval packages
  • Ensure adherence to credit policies, underwriting standards, and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Promote consistent commercial underwriting practices across the holding company
  • Develop and utilize management information systems to minimize portfolio risk
  • Prepare and manage annual reviews, commitment letters, covenant compliance, CARs, and loan approval packages
  • Spread and analyze financial statements for borrowers and guarantors
  • Serve as primary interface between Builder Finance Relationship Managers and Regional Credit Managers
  • Maintain financial exception reporting to proactively identify and resolve risk items
  • Support partnership lending models alongside Relationship Managers outside of Builder Finance
  • Build and manage a specialized Builder Finance underwriting and portfolio management team
  • Design and implement Builder Financespecific underwriting templates and tracking tools
  • Research regulatory guidance, market participants, systems, and platforms to support specialized lending growth
  • Maintain professional and community relationships to enhance visibility and generate new business opportunities
  • Support portfolio management process improvement initiatives through research, standardization, and workflow optimization
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements For Success

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) required
  • 7–10 years of experience in financial analysis, structuring, underwriting, and portfolio management preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of credit products, noncredit services, and creditrelated regulations
  • Strong understanding of commercial banking credit functions and divisions
  • Proven leadership ability with experience coaching, developing, and managing employees
  • Strong analytical, problemsolving, and decisionmaking skills
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills
  • Solid knowledge of loan documentation and credit underwriting practices
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with customers, Relationship Managers, bankers, and senior leadership
  • Willingness to participate in all required compliance and regulatory training, including BSA/AML

Pay Range

USD $84,136.00 - USD $139,486.00 /Yr.
